What Is Rosetta Stone
So lets get something out in the open about who or what Rosetta Stone is. It’s not a person, it’s not a place but it is named after a software program that helps you learn other languages. The reality of it is, the stone is real and it dates back to 196 BC, currently in a British Museum. The Rosetta Stone is a rock stele, found in 1799, inscribed with a decree issued at Memphis, Egypt on behalf of King Ptolemy V. The decree appears in three scripts: the upper text is Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the middle portion is Demotic script, and the lowest is Ancient Greek. Because it presents essentially the same text in all three scripts (with some minor differences among them), the stone provided the key to the modern understanding of Egyptian hieroglyphs. Basically this slab of rock (not roll) has paved the path of communication for every human on the planet. A group of rocket scientists, well maybe English teachers sat around and took bits and pieces of the hieroglyphics from the stone and came up with Facebook!!!! So next time you hear the commercial, tell someone the real story, it’s written in stone!

MADE IN CHINA
Of all the countries that I would have thought where the first firearm, hand cannon and gun powder came from, China would have been my last guess. Invented during the 13th century AD, after the Chinese invented black powder during the 9th century AD. These inventions were later transmitted to the Middle East, (no surprise there) Africa, and Europe. The direct ancestor of the firearm is the fire lance, the prototype of the gun. The fire lance was invented in China during the 10th century and is the predecessor of all firearms. It’s amazing how the concept to hunt and kill has remained the same but the appearance of a firearm has gone through millions of changes.. Same idea, new packaging!!!
“Remember guns don’t kill people, people kill people.”
(Seriously Please Gun Powder Responsibly, no joke here)

Pittsburgh rare or what the locals call “Pittsburgh black” is the term used for a certain style of steak cooking. Usually you’ll hear that term if your in a real steak house with an educated server. This is my personal favorite style of eating steak where the outside is all charred and seals all the juices inside. The term started in the various steel mills in and around Pittsburgh. The mill workers needed high calorie food for the heavy work and had only 30 minutes for lunch. The blast furnaces were heated to over 2,000F degrees. They would throw a steak on the side of the blast furnace which was sterile due to the high heat, leave it for a few moments, and then turn it. The steak was seared but raw inside and of course best served with mashed potato and garlic bread. The only thing in world better than steak is more steak!! (Ok I’m hungry)
