WELCOME TO METROPOLIS NIGHTS

We all have that one defining moment in life that makes
us who we are as people. Our character is tested like never
before. Soon it will be my turn to step up to the plate and
face whatever the forces of nature have in store for me.
Back in March I wrote a story in MN that I titled, “Monaghan
Redemption.” I told of my long journey to Monaghan, Ireland
and my search for the 5 year old daughter I have never seen.
It was brutally painful to dig up my past in that little Irish town
in search for my future. But for me there was no other option.
I walked the narrow streets of Monaghan Town, reading
mailboxes, looking in coffee shop windows and food markets.
Where ever my heart would take me I went. I never
felt lost even though I didn’t know where I was going. I was
going to find my child and nothing on this Earth was going
to stop me.
Well, after days of searching and uncomfortable inquiring
with the locals I did find my daughter (or at least where she
lived). Although I wasn’t granted permission to see her, our
souls were closer than they had ever been. I knew what I had
to do next, and although hard I have no second thoughts of
my decision.
On July 9th, I will be boarding a plane for Ireland with a
large suitcase filled with some warm clothes and personal
items to remind me of home. This time I won’t be returning
without the connection to my daughter that I desperately
sought at the start of this year. Nothing about what I’m about
to do will be easy nor should it be. The challenge will be
daunting but the hard fought reward so great.
I’m coming for my little girl and there can be no second
place this time around.
But this is not good-bye my friends.
The world is a very small place and my well trained staff
will continue with the nightlife publishing tradition I have
spent 27 years creating. My passion for this magazine will
not be missed thanks to the Internet and support from those
around me who work so hard to make the impossible possible.
So here I go…. or should I rather say, “Here I come!”
See you in August,
