Now that we are officially into the riding season I thought it would be a good time to do a rider feature. This month, we take a look at Danny Pierson who has not one, but two motos. Clearly serving two different purposes, each of Danny’s machines is extremely cool in their own unique way.
Regarding his 2009 Harley Davidson Nightster 1200, Danny had this to say, “My Harley is my #1. I’ve customized it from the ground up to perfectly fit me. The fit and feel of this bike out on the open road is like no other; loud, aggressive, raw, but humble. Hitting the pavement with her settles the mind from a hard week of work or helps capture and enjoy a great day for a ride. I upgraded the bike with a stage 1 kit, K&N high flow with Vance & Hines straight shots, Nash ape hangers, Progressive suspension and tons of other custom upgrades.”
When asked about his 2015 Honda Grom, Danny said, “In contrast to my Harley, my Grom is a jovial little machine. It’s quick, nimble, and just great fun to ride… It’s fantastic around town and super easy to operate. It has great two-up capability and I usually take it with me (hitch mounted) on vacation/getaways to see the sights. It quickly mounts up on the back of my SUV for easy hauling. I love this thing and want to ride it all the time! It sounds great, has sport bike-like handling, and can fit it my pocket (JK). It has a 125cc engine with a Yoshimura exhaust, K&N drop in, Fender eliminator and cargo rack.”
As far as the rider himself goes, Danny is the owner/operator of a classic/traditional barbershop in Wayne, New Jersey (www.waynebarbershopnj.com). His place is a 50+ year old shop specializing in classic barber haircuts and beard trims. If you ride and want to get your hair cut by a fellow rider, I suggest you pay Danny a visit. I plan on doing that exact thing next time I need to clean things up on my noggin. Personally I try to keep my cut high and tight during riding season so my helmet does give me a bad case of “helmethead” whenever I dismount.
Lastly, this busy moto-man is also a passionate musician which is how I originally came to meet him– at one of his gigs. Danny’s newest band is called The Full 9 (TheFull9.com) They are a Power-Trio playing covers from the classic era of the 70’s & 80’s, as well as a lot of 90’s rock and alternative, with some of today’s hits sprinkled in. If you see his band playing out, stop in and say hey to this talented, multi-faceted rider.
